You don’t offer many dates, why is this?
All dates are painstakingly arranged around the optimum times to photograph each location. Whilst many dates at a variety of locations will work, Simon has selected the best times to photograph each location through thorough research and his own photography.
What if the weather is bad ?
Simon keeps an eye on the weather forecast and only if the weather is very bad will

Does your price include transport to the location ?
Generally no. For most people it is recommended you make your own way to the location. This should be approx. 20 min's before the arranged time.
I don’t have a very good camera and very little equipment. can I still attend ?
Yes. Whilst the tuition is mainly designed for SLR`s, any camera can be used to create striking images. Some techniques will involve filter use, which will be very difficult to use on a point & shoot. If you are unsure, you may borrow a Canon Pro SLR, lenses, filters, tripod and other items for the duration of the day as it will quicken your learning experience.
Dawn or Dusk, Which ? (one-
This will ultimately depend on your previous experience with photography.
Simon would recommend Dawn tuition for users who have a deeper understanding of light management or have attended a sunset course.
This is due to the fact that generally simon cant show enough technique in the short space of time before sunrise.
At sunset, you will have plenty of opportunity at the location prior to the sun setting allowing for ample tuition.
What equipment should I bring ?
As this is a landscape based day a wide angle is generally the first thought of lens. The short answer is what ever lenses you have, ranging from a wide angle, standard to telephoto they all have there place.
A sturdy tripod is a must and whatever else you want to carry!
Spare batteries should also be carried just in case.
How long is each day and how much time do we have at the location ?
Photography comes first, so Simon`s tuition routine is determined by the time of year. We pack as much photography in as possible.
A day of tuition is based loosely around 8 hrs to include either sunrise or sunset.
Because this is a structured day you'll have the time to explore and enjoy each location's full potential.
What are the locations like and how fit do I need to be ?
Most locations are close to good car parks, and may also have a cafe close by. Some locations are coastal areas. Therefore a steady footing is required on a variety of terrain. We may also visit cliff top locations where up most care should be exercised at all times.
Most locations are on the South Downs themselves and may involve walks on grass and chalk of up to 30 min`s.
All locations have been visited by Simon on many occasions and can be seen in the gallery sections of this site. Therefore you are guaranteed to be in the best possible locations the Sussex landscape has to offer.
Is post processing included and what support do you offer ?
Post processing is a completely different ball game. There are many ways in which to fine tune the captured image and is a very in depth subject to explore in a single session. If you wish to have a session outlining these techniques please contact Simon.
Simon is always happy to answer any questions you may have after the tuition day and assist you a much as he can.
Do you take any photographs during the tuition ?
Simon will take images to show you a certain technique and or explain how to make any other adjustments.
Simon may take one or two of his own images, but will always ask the group first and will always be on hand should you have any questions's.
